Lifetech Successfully Held a Satellite Symposium in the 10th China Southern Endovascular Congress (SEC2016)

The 10th China Southern Endovascular Congress (SEC2016) was held successfully in Fuzhou, Fujian from 7th to 9th July 2016. Many experts across China in the field of endovascular therapeutics had wide and thorough discussion on global hot problems on vascular diseases. The congress topics were quite wide, covering clinical diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases, evidence-based medicine, application of innovative health care techniques, and so on; and carried in rich forms, such as demonstration of a large number of cases and on-site interaction. Subjects on prevention and treatment of vascular diseases and clinical application of innovative medical devices, which were concerned by many physicians, were discussed thoroughly. Lifetech took an active part in the congress. It successfully held a satellite symposium during the congress, and set up a delicate exhibition stand outside the meeting venue, which attracted attention from many physicians and agents.

On the second day of the congress, Lifetech held the satellite symposium themed “Design Domestic Products Dedicated for Chinese Patients”. Lifetech invited Professor Guo Wei from General Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army, Professor Shu Chang from Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences(CAMS),and Professor Li Ming from Zhejiang University Affiliated No 1 Hospital, to act as the chairmen of the satellite symposium; and also invited Guo Wei from General Hospital of the People’s Liberation Army, Professor Shu Chang from Fuwai Hospital, CAMS, Professor Zhang Hongkun from Zhejiang University Affiliated No 1 Hospital, Professor Qu Lefeng from the Second Military Medical University Affiliated Changzheng Hospital and Professor Chang Guangqi from Zhongshan University Affiliated No 1 Hospital to act as guest speakers, who delivered wonderful speeches and case analysis on clinical application and intra-operative advantages of Ankura Stent Graft System developed independently by Lifetech. With the perfect combination of excellent innovative products and famous experts in the health care industry, the satellite symposium held by Lifetech turned out to be a success, attracting hundreds of physicians and agents, though on that very day Fuzhou issued typhoon warning.

At the beginning of satellite symposium, Professor Guo Wei delivered a lecture on the topic “What stent should we choose for an endovascular aneurysm repair surgery?”, and stressed that the aneurysm treatment had common characters in terms of stent choice, especially the conformability of a product. Professor Guo said that Ankura Thoracic Stent Graft System manufactured by Lifetech had optimal flexibility and proper hardness with elaborate designs, and was the competitive domestic product most suitable for Chinese patients due to its excellent curvature after implanting it into human body.

Subsequently, Professor Shu Chang mainly explained clinical application skills of Ankura Thoracic Stent Graft System from the point of clinical practice, thoroughly analyzed technological advantages of Ankura Thoracic Stent Graft products, and lively and fully presented several perfect clinical application examples of Ankura Thoracic Stent Graft System on complex cases, such as proximal tumor formation and serious internal hemorrhage after TEVAR (thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair), closing of a distal new incision, and single/double-chimney technique repair surgery. Professor Shu Chang stressed that implantation of a covered stent product was not to close an incision alone, but to make the overall curvature and blood flow of the aorta recover to basic normal conditions, and ensure the long and stable closing outcome, so as to achieve complete repair of aneurysm. And then, Professor Zhang Hongkun gave a lecture themed “Application of Whole Series Lifetech Products on Endovascular Aortic Repair”, elucidating conveniences provided by rich product series of Lifetech for performing endovascular aortic repair surgeries. At first, Professor Zhang introduced Fustar controlled steerable sheath, the only one product of sheathing canals with a steerable function of its head end in China, for application to endovascular abdominal aortic repair, which could twist to a suitable angle in the circumstance of a bigger abdominal aortic aneurysm body, and whose head end could be adjusted at various angles to cooperate with a guide wire for establishing a vascular trajectory so as to simplify the operation and shorten surgery duration, in case that it is difficult to establish a trajectory. And then, Professor Zhang shared the experience in one case of endovascular thoracic and abdominal aneurysm repair: during the phase II repair in a patient, firstly Heart R closing device for congenital heart disease manufactured by Lifetech was used to close two incisions at the descending aorta, subsequently Ankura Stent Graft was used to perform a window pre-opening in vitro, leaving the bilateral kidney arteries to conduct endovascular repair. The post-operative re-examination showed good results. Professor Zhang thought that the ePTFE material employed by Ankura Thoracic Stent Graft System was easier to open a window, and there were a very large number of cases in which the system was used to open a window and these surgeries were all successful. In addition, Professor Zhang introduced some cases in which the bifurcating iliac artery stent system manufactured by Lifetech was employed to perform endovascular iliac artery reconstruction in patient with iliac aneurysm. At last, Professor Zhang summarized that at present aortic surgeries became more and more complex, and physicians preferred to choose endovascular methods to perform these surgeries, which required various non-invasive intervention devices to achieve the goal. The complete product series manufactured by Lifetech substantially help physicians resolve many problems in complex cases.

Afterwards, Professor Qu Lefeng introduced, by the means of comparison between imported products and domestic products, Ankura Thoracic Stent Graft System manufactured by Lifetech to the present physicians, and considered that it was a covered stent more appropriate for complex aortic lesions. Professor Qu stressed that the ideal thoracic aortic stent should have three features: firstly, no suture or no barbed structure with a proximal end of nude stent; secondly, with good flexibility,  conform to the natural vascular curvature, and precise localization after operation; thirdly, with enough supporting force. Professor Qu said Ankura Thoracic Stent Graft System was equipped with the three above-mentioned features, was an excellent domestic stent product, besides, it had a taper design which made the product obtain good results in some complex and challenging cases. Professor Qu also minutely introduced the application of Ankura Stent Graft System to lesions in the abdominal aortic artery. He stressed the ideal abdominal aortic covered stent should be easily placed into the human body and be released precisely so as to open a window to expand an anchoring region and reserve the visceral arteries. Also, it should have excellent flexibility and enough supporting force without deformity and translocation. Professor Qu stated that Ankura Abdominal Aortic Stent Graft System met the requirements mentioned above, and was a domestic competitive product more suitable for complex aortic lesions. At the end of the lecture, Professor Qu called for Chinese physicians to try their best to support the national industry, and believed the excellent products of Lifetech would be popular all over the world.

At the end of the satellite symposium, Professor Chang Guangqi from Zhongshan University Affiliated No 1 Hospital shared several typical cases with participants in terms of “Clinical Application of Ankura Stent Graft System”. Professor Chang particularly stated, Ankura Thoracic Stent Graft System had a multiple taper design to conform to the natural vascular curvature. At the same time, the post-operative imaging examinations in these cases showed that Ankura Thoracic Stent Graft System exhibited excellent curvature and apposition property after implantation, and the blood flow in the stent was very smooth.
